LaMelo Ball of the Hornets Won't Be Back This Season

The Hornets' public relations department tweets that star guard LaMelo Ball will miss the remainder of the season while continuing rehabilitation from right ankle surgery.

The fact that the team is closing down its star player is not unexpected.

At 18-54, the Hornets have the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference.

In July, Ball inked a maximum five-year extension. His youthful career, however, has been derailed by injuries.

He made 51 appearances as a freshman and 75 during his sophomore year.

A wrist injury prevented him from making his maiden debut.

He made just 36 appearances during the previous campaign.

An operation was required to repair a fracture in his right ankle, which prematurely ended his season.
